Dear NGO Representatives,

In May 2021, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 75/280 to convene the international meeting entitled “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity” (“Stockholm+50”), in Stockholm, Sweden, on 2 and 3 June 2022, during the week of World Environment Day. The meeting will commemorate the 50 years since the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, as a contribution to the environmental dimension of sustainable development to accelerate the implementation of commitments in the context of the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development, including a sustainable recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

In the lead-up to “Stockholm+50”, the President of the General Assembly (PGA) will convene a one-day preparatory meeting on Monday, 28 March 2022, at 10 a.m., in General Assembly Hall at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The meeting will be chaired by the Stockholm+50 co-hosts, Sweden and Kenya. It will consist of three interactive discussions on preparations for the three Leadership Dialogues to take place at the international meeting:

Interactive discussion on the background document to Leadership Dialogue 1: Reflecting on the urgent need for actions to achieve a healthy planet and prosperity for all.

۱۲:۳۰ p.m. – ۱:۰۰ p.m. & 3:00 p.m. – ۴:۱۰ p.m.
Interactive discussion on the background document to Leadership Dialogue 2: Achieving a sustainable and inclusive recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic; and

۴:۱۰ p.m. – ۵:۵۰ p.m.
Interactive discussion on the background document to Leadership Dialogue 3: Accelerating the implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development in the context of the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development.

All NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC are invited to register for the preparatory meeting and to indicate interest in the limited number of speaking slots at: https://forms.office.com/r/jAvuWLd0ML. The deadline for registration is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 11 March 2022.The proceedings of the preparatory meeting will be broadcast live on UN Web TV with interpretation in all official languages.
